Michael Jordan’s Last-Minute Nike Decision was a very important one, which developed today’s sneaker market into a giant. Most of you know the story about Michael Jordan and Nike.
Lately we found out that Nike almost lost MJ to Adidas and apparently from the video bellow we can see that Nike wasn’t a big fish back in the day. Adidas was ruling the sportswear market (something that they are trying to gain again in 2016).
Converse was also one of the big players in the basketball sneaker market. MJ was rocking All-Star’s during his Collage career and he was dreaming of signing eventually to Adidas, not Nike. The brand Nike was still at an early stage of their highly praised business career, and apparently MJ had a lot to do with this.
How do you think the sneaker market would look like in 2016 without Michael Jordan? Do you think Kanye West could’ve done what MJ did, or will he bring the sneaker game to the next level? There are so many questions to answer but all we know is that Michael Jordan is still one of the most appreciated athletes even in 2016 (even Kanye West shows his humble gratitude to His Airness).
We think that Jordan Brand is just starting in 2016, especially with 2016 being so far a classic Jordan OG year. There is still a lot to be seen about Jordan brand development.
