These Nike KD8 Sneakers Will Not Release Because “Too Religious”. Last yer in September, Kevin Durant treated fans to a preview of upcoming Nike KD 8 colorways, one of which took heavy inspiration from his favorite Bible verse.
Now we got some bad news, the shoes will not release. Sneaker News spoke with KD 8 designer Leo Chang, who says that the colorway, nicknamed “Servant,” was scrapped altogether due to it being “too religious.”
This would be the first Nike sneakers to take inspiration from religion, it sounds like someone decided that the allusions on the graphic upper and biblical callouts on the insole and tongue were too explicit for the general public. Some pairs made it to production, so this could be the soon they will hit Ebay for high prices, due to the limited of pieces produced.
In the meantime the annual KD 8 Aunt Pearl colorway is now available from Nike store for $200.
